FCAT

The FCAT

The FCAT (Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test) assesses cognitive reading, writing and mathematics skills. All Florida students in 3rd through 10th grade take the FCAT in the spring of each year. All students entering 9th grade in the 1999-2001 school year and after are required to pass the FCAT in order to earn the high school diploma.

Why is the FCAT important?

If you began 9th grade in the 1999-2000 school year or after, you cannot graduate from high school until you pass the FCAT exam.

  • Your FCAT scores must accompany your high school transcripts. If they do not accompany your transcripts, you are responsible for providing FCAT scores to SCC.
  • If you have entered SCC`s adult high school as a 9th grade student during the 1999-2000 school year or after, you will have to pass the FCAT to earn you high school diploma.
  • If you are a student who entered high school during the 1999-2000 school year or after, you are still required to pass the FCAT even if your enrollment in high school was not continuous.

If I`ve already taken the FCAT, how do I make sure my scores get to SCC?

Your high school should send your FCAT scores with your transcripts. However, it is your responsibility to make sure that SCC receives your test scores.

Speak to your high school guidance counselor to make sure that your scores are sent with your transcripts. If not, contact the Assessment and Testing Center for more information.

What do I do if I haven`t taken the FCAT?

If you haven`t taken the FCAT, you can take it at SCC. Contact 407.708.2153 for more information.
