CLEP

A CLEP Exam

CLEP (College-Level Examination Program) is a nationally recognized, credit-by-examination program. With a CLEP test, you can:

  • Prove your competency in various college-level courses
  • Earn college credit without taking the course (if you pass the exam)

SCC will accept up to 45 credit hours through general or subject CLEP exams.

What do I do if I have not taken the CLEP Exam?

SCC is a national CLEP test center. You can exam the test at the Assessment and Testing Center.

  • We provide CLEP exams usually on the third Saturday of each month (except December).
  • You must fill out an application before you can take a CLEP exam. The registration deadline is the 15th day of the month prior to the CLEP test date.
  • Applications are available at the Assessment and Testing Center in building A.
  • You can take up to two CLEP exams in one test session, three exams each month.

If I have taken a CLEP exam, how do I get my test scores to SCC?

You are responsible for making sure SCC has your CLEP records.

  • Contact the facility at which you took the test(s). They may be able to help you.
  • Speak with the Assessment and Testing department. They may be able to tell you who to contact to get your CLEP records.
