After Graduation then what?

  • Before or after graduation apply to Seminole Community College. It is better to apply before graduation.
  • Tech Prep students are encouraged to enroll as Associate in Science (A.S.) degree students, which links to SCC's technical programs. A.S. degrees can be obtained in Business (includes Computers), Automotive, Health, Engineering (includes Electronics and Computers), Child Development, Criminal Justice and Design (includes Architectural Design).  An A.S. degree is a two-year technical degree. Tech Prep college credit earned in high school ties directly to each of the above programs and will shorten the time it takes a student to complete a two-year degree.
  • In Florida, the average salary for an A.S. degree is $41,282, versus a four-year Bachelor's degree which is $33,920. The average salary for a certificate program is $36,008 and an Associate in Arts (A.A.) degrees is $27,300. It is strongly recommended that Tech Prep students obtain an A.S. degree first, then take the 6-8 classes (this may vary depending on program and classes student has taken) to complete an A.A. degree and then continue on to a Bachelor's degree if so desired. Often, if the student is working for a technical company while obtaining or after obtaining an A.S. degree, the employee will be reimbursed for higher education tuition. Four-year universities will look for an A.A. degree for students transferring into the university. Exceptions to this are an A.S. in Computer Information Systems will transfer directly into a Bachelor’s degree at UCF. An A.S. degree in Interior Design will transfer the student into FSU as a Senior. And, an A.S. Registered Nurse (R.N.) will transfer to almost any university directly into a Bachelor's program.
  • Enroll in at least one class and fill out a "Seminole Community College Request For Tech Prep Credit Form" (Records Office in Student Services Bldg. A) to receive Tech Prep college credit received in high school.
  • If you are attending a four-year university and would like to transfer your Tech Prep credit, you must simply take one class at SCC, fill out the "Tech Prep Credit Form" and then transfer your credit to the four-year university. Check with the four-year university first, a lot of four-year universities will allow you to use Tech Prep credit as electives or towards your program area (Engineering, etc.).

Optional - Stop by the Tech Prep Office and introduce yourself or call the Tech Prep Office 407.708.2427 and set up a tour of the SCC campus.
