AP Chemistry

This is the 14th year the AP Chemistry Institute will be offered at SCC. Former participants have given excellent evaluations. Both new and experienced AP Chemistry teachers are welcome to attend. The instructors are Jim Cortez from The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Fla., and Dr. Janice Kadis from Seminole Community College.

More than half the sessions will be combined so that participants can become acquainted and share ideas. The rest of the sessions are designed to meet the special needs of either new or experienced teachers. There will be time for the experienced teachers to explore new laboratories and brush up on some advanced topics and some laboratory work will be done with the LabPro interface units.

Problem-solving, demonstrations and AP laboratories are included. Homework will be assigned. Some of the highlights of the Institute include the opportunity to meet other AP Chemistry teachers, and to learn and share ideas about teaching chemistry.
