Is this coursework certified through The Project Management InstituteTM (PMITM)?

Yes. SCC is a registered education provider for The Project Management InstituteTM, which has approved our courses.

Can I receive a certification for this coursework?

Yes, the Project Management Professional (PMPTM) designation. These courses prepare you for the certification exam and do not include the option of taking the exam in class. You will need to contact PMI to arrange for the submission of your application and testing requirements.

Will I be certified after completing the required coursework?

No. You will need to apply for your certification examination through PMI and take your exam through an approved prometric testing center. These courses fulfill the "contact hours of education" requirement.

Are there any requirements to sit for the certification exam?

Yes. It requires...

...a high school education and:

  • At least five years of project management experience;
  • At least 7,500 hours in a position of responsibility over an eight-year period; and
  • At least 35 contact hours of formal project management education (met within the completion of our program).
or

...a bachelor's degree and:

  • At least three years of project management experience;
  • At least 4,500 hours in a position of responsibility over a six-year period; and
  • At least 35 contact hours of formal project management education (met within the completion of our program).

Where can I take the certification exam?

You should take the exam at an authorized prometric testing center. For more details, visit 2test.com or pmi.org.

Are all courses required to sit for the certification exam?

Candidates must verify at least 35 contact hours of specific instruction that addresses learning objectives in project management. A time frame is not associated with this requirement; therefore, candidates can document all project management education hours regardless of when they were accrued. These hours must include content on project quality, scope, time, cost, human resources, communications, risk, procurement and integration management.

How often is the program offered?

Typically, the program is set to run for open enrollment two to three times per calendar year; however, private cohorts can be arranged for organizations who meet enrollment requirements.

What is the normal schedule for the program?
