PTA Program Goals/Student Outcomes

Upon completion of the education program, Physical Therapist Assistant graduates should possess competencies in:

  1. Patient sevices - the ability to perform safe and competent interventions, data collection and program modifications on patients delegated to the PTA by the physical therapist and the plan of care.
  2. Communications - the ability to use verbal and non-verbal methods in sending and receiving communication. Public speaking skills are emphasized through oral presentations and teaching experiences.
  3. Administration - the ability to participate under the direction and guidance of a licensed physical therapist in selected aspects of planning for physical therapy services in a facility or a community.
  4. Self-growth - the ability to enhance the contribution of physical therapy to healthcare by improving his/her own knowledge and skills.
