American Legion Scholarship

The American Legion of Sanford has offered scholarships each year in Term II. This group of veterans has chosen educational assistance to students in nursing education programs throughout the country as one of their major community service projects. The group organizes fundraising activities to raise money for this mission. Each year the Sanford Legion invites our students to their location in Sanford, provides dinner and awards the scholarships. This usually occurs in April or May.

Eligibility:

• Students currently enrolled in the AS Degree Nursing Program.
• First and Second year students may apply.

Amount:

$500.00. Offered once a year.

Application Process:

Submit a letter addressed to the Scholarship Committee of the Associate Degree Nursing Program, which addresses your interest in the scholarship, goals, financial need, and grade point average.

Criteria for Selection:

• Financial need
• Clinical and academic performance
• Availability to attend evening meeting in Sanford

Application Deadline:

April 15, 2008. The award dinner will be April 25, 2008.

Place applications in Judy Laney's folder in the student area of the Nursing Office.
