Admission Requirements/Application Procedures

  • All students entering a healthcare program with a clinical component will be required to complete a criminal background check. Students must be free of offenses which could potentially disqualify them from working in a healthcare environment (Florida Statute 400.211). Admission into clinicals is at the discretion of the clinical agencies.
  • First apply and be accepted to Seminole Community College. Visit our Admissions Office in Bldg. A or go to the Admissions website (admissions@scc-fl.edu) for more information.
  • Provide official transcripts indicating successful completion of High School or GED.
  • Achieve minimum required scores on TABE Test-Form A.

  • Exit requirements
    In order to register for the final course in program and to graduate from the program, students must pass the TABE Test with the following score:
    Reading11.0

    Math11.0
  • Achieve minimum required scores on the PN-NET
    • Reading Comprehension 51%
    • Math Skills 59%
  • Attend mandatory Nursing Information Session (current schedule available on line). You will receive all necessary application materials at this time.
  • Submit the completed Nursing Admission Request Form for Practical Nursing.
  • Meet or consult with an Academic Advisor.
  • Complete the following prerequisites / corequisites with a grade of "C" or better:

    • HSC 1531 (Medical Terminology)
    • HSC 1000 (Introduction to Health Care)
    • HIM 1450 (Anatomy and Physiology)

How do I get additional information?

It is recommended that students visit a counselor or academic advisor for guidance in course selection, sequencing and scheduling. Financial assistance and scholarship opportunities are available. All services are free and available on all three SCC locations. The SCC College Catalog can be obtained in the Admissions Office or viewed using the SCC online catalog.
