Application Procedures

Practical Nurse Students may enter the Career Transition into Professional Nursing A.S. Degree program once a year during the Summer term. Classes are held during the day. Clinical hours and times may vary per semester.

To apply to the Career Transition into Professional Nursing A.S. Degree program:

1. All students entering a healthcare program with a clinical component will be required to complete a criminal background check. Students must be free of offenses which could potentially disqualify them from working in a healthcare environment (Florida Statute 400.211). Admission into clinicals is at the discretion of the clinical agencies.

2. Apply to Seminole Community College (SCC). You must be accepted to SCC before you can be accepted to a nursing program. For more information on SCC application procedures, visit our Admissions department.

3. Meet with an Academic Advisor/Counselor

4. Attend a mandatory information session. You cannot apply to the nursing program without attending an information session. During the information session, you will receive the necessary application package.

5. If you have not taken college credit courses and if you do not have SAT or ACT scores that are less then 2 years old take the CPT - Computerized Placement Test ( for new college credit students).

6. Take the NET (Nurse Entrance Test) exam at SCC's Assessment and Testing Center. You must take the NET before you can be admitted to a nursing program. A minimum score for admission to the current program is a 50% composite score and 55% reading comprehension score.

7. Complete the application package and include all required documentation. This includes:

  • Nursing Admission Request Form is only valid for this academic year. If you are not accepted this year, you may reapply for the following academic year. You will be required to resubmit all application information.

You must also have a 2.5 overall G.P.A. Speak with the Admissions office for assistant in requesting official transcripts. Please note that transcript evaluation will take 6-8 weeks.
  • An unofficial SCC transcript from MySCC with all of your transfer courses recorded. Please highlight any of the required courses (listed under support and general education courses) as listed on the application. It will take 24 hours for your SCC transcripts to be processed.
  • All Associate Degrees students in Nursing must be eligible for College Algebra or higher prior to application. Eligibility must be verified via test scores or prior course work on the student's SCC unofficial transcript.
  • If you are enrolled in general education courses, include a current registration form. This is applicable for students enrolled at SCC or another college. Highlight the general education courses.
  • Copies of approved course substitution forms, if applicable. For assistant obtaining these forms, speak with the Counseling or Records office.

Recent LPN graduate (a graduate in the past 18 months) must have 1,000 documented hours. Your Nurse Manager or Agency Personnel Department representative must sign this form. Only students graduating from SCC's LPN program during the previous academic year can waive the work experience requirement.
