Application Procedures

Students may enter the Associate of Science in Nursing - Generic Program twice each year (August for the day track and January for the evening/weekend track).  Lecture, lab and clinical schedules will vary each term.  It is the student's responsibility to arrange for transportation and childcare during clinical hours.

To apply to the Nursing - Generic Track A.S. degree program:

1. All students entering a healthcare program with a clinical component will be required to complete a criminal background check. Students must be free of offenses which could potentially disqualify them from working in a healthcare environment (Florida Statute 400.211). Admission into clinicals is at the discretion of the clinical agencies.

2. Apply to Seminole Community College. You must be accepted to SCC before you can be accepted to a nursing program. For more information on SCC application procedures, visit our Admissions Office.

3. Attend a mandatory information session. You cannot apply to the nursing program without attending an information session. During the information session, you will receive the necessary application package.

4. Include official transcripts from all colleges you have attended. You must have a grade of "C" or better in all of the general education courses required as part of the nursing program. You must also have a 2.5 overall G.P.A. Speak with the Admissions Office for assistance in requesting official transcripts. Please note that transcript evaluation will take 6-8 weeks.

5. A copy of your grade report from the Nurse Entrance Test (NET). Schedule this exam in the Assessment and Testing office in the Student Services building. A minimum score for admission to the current program is a 50 percent composite score and 55 percent reading comprehension score.

6. Complete the application package and include all required documentation. This includes:

  • Nursing Admission Form.
This form must be submitted during the application window and is valid for the current academic year. For those students not admitted, a new application must be submitted the following year. These forms are part of the Application Packet and can only be obtained at the Information Session.
  • Your NET scores.
  • An unofficial SCC transcript (from MySCC) with all of your transfer courses recorded. Please highlight any of the required courses (listed under support and general education courses) as on the application.
  • All Associate Degrees students in Nursing must be eligible for College Algebra or higher prior to application. Eligibility must be verified via test scores or prior course work on the student's SCC official transcript.
  • If you are enrolled in general education courses, include a current registration form. This is applicable for students enrolled at SCC or another college. Highlight the general education courses.
  • Copies of approved course substitution forms, if applicable. For assistant obtaining these forms, speak with the Counseling or Records department.

7. Submit the completed application package to the Admissions Office by the stated deadline. It must be in a sealed envelope with your name and program applying to clearly written. If you turn in an incomplete application package, you will not be admitted to the program. Make sure you have all of the needed paperwork, you've highlighted your courses, and you deliver your packet to the proper office by the stated deadline.
