Professional Certification Programs

Employees often measure the caliber of job candidates by the certifications they have earned. A certification is an internationally recognized credential from a high-tech company or organization such as Microsoft, Cisco, Novell . When you earn a certification, it means that you have proven skills in the technology field and in a specific company's products. Certifications are earned through passing certification exams. The tests measure your abilities in, and knowledge of, a field and product.

The programs are designed to help you prepare for a certification exam.

  • MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional)
  • MTC (Microsoft Technical Certificate)
  • MCSA (Microsoft Certified System Administrator)
  • MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer)
• Cisco's:
  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate)
  • CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional)
  • WLANSE (Wireless LAN for Systems Engineers)
  • SECUR (Securing Cisco ISO Networks)
  • CSPFA (Cisco Secure PIX Firewall Advanced)

You can choose between two program options:

• Prepare for a certification exam and earn credits towards an A.S. degree.
• Prepare for an exam without being in the A.S. degree program.

Certification exams can be taken at the SCC Professional Testing and Certification Center.

The courses that Seminole Community College provides as part of its professional certification programs are designed to help students prepare for a certification exam. To earn a certification, the student must pass the exam. Passing the courses does not guarantee that the student will pass the exam.
