    Medical Assisting - Short-term Healthcare Certificates

    SCC's Medical Assisting program now offers an alternative to completing the full three-term program. Students can select specific courses within the program and earn an SCC short-term Healthcare Certificate as a Medical Office Receptionist, Phlebotomist or EKG Aide.

    SCC offers short-term Healthcare Certificates in the following areas of study:

    Students may exit the Medical Assistant program after earning any or all three of these certificates or choose to expand their career options by completing the full 1300-hour Medical Assisting program.

    Additional courses needed to complete the full Medical Assistant Program are:
    • MEA0560 - Medical Assisting
    • MEA0801 - Medical Assisting Externship
    • MEA0565 - Medical Assisting II
    • MEA0258 - Basic X-Ray
    • Minimum age of 17 years old to apply to the program.
    • Provide official transcripts from your High School Diploma or GED
    • Complete the SCC Application.
    • Take the TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education). The SCC Assessment and Testing Center is located in the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus Student Services Building A and can be contacted by calling 407.708.2020
