What is the Medical Assistant Program at SCC?

The MA Program at SCC is a comprehensive three-term program that will provide students with the highest quality classroom and lab instruction available. Its objective is to train students to acquire exemplary skills and to be able to demonstrate competence in a variety of medical office procedures, duties, and techniques under the direct supervision of the physician.

Why should I attend this Medical Assistant Program?
    • It is one of the few programs in the Central Florida area accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
    • It will provide you training in both administrative and clinical skills.
    • It combines classroom instruction with hands-on experience in medical offices.
After I complete the program, am I a Certified Medical Assistant?

After you successfully complete the Medical Assistant curriculum, you are eligible to sit for the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam. When you pass this exam, you will receive your certification and can begin your career as a Certified Medical Assistant. If you choose not to take the National CMA exam, you are still eligible to work as a Medical Assistant, however, the Healthcare Career Programs faculty strongly encourages its graduates to take the CMA exam in order to increase future employment opportunities.
