How to Evaluate Internet Sites

You need to evaluate the information you find on the Internet in much the same way you would print materials. Ask yourself:

• Who is the author?
• Could this information be biased?
• Is the site updated regularly?
• If you need current information, is it provided on this site?
• Did you miss good information available in other types of sources?
• Does the URL, the "Internet address," give a clue about the site's usability? Read Consider the Source (Ithaca College) for a good discussion.
