SCC Cards and Borrowing Materials

How may I use my SCC card as a Library card?

Current SCC students, faculty or staff may activate their library accounts on their SCC Cards by visiting the Circulation Desk at any SCC Campus Library. Retired faculty and staff can obtain an SCC Library Card by providing a valid photo identification at the Circulation Desk at any SCC Library. Distance Learning students may request a library account via e-mail. Replacement cards are available for a fee. Your SCC Card is required to borrow all materials.

What is the "Borrower Identification Number" and PIN?

The number on the SCC Card functions as the Borrower Identification Number. You can use your Borrower Identification Number check out books, reserve materials and search LINCCWeb Online Databases. Your PIN is the last four digits of your Social Security Number.

What is Inter-Campus Borrowing?

This feature enables you to request materials online that are owned by other SCC Campuses. Materials in the collections of each Campus library are available to each other. The SCC courier service provides delivery and return of materials loaned to students and staff. Students may return materials to any Campus.

What is Reciprocal Borrowing?

Reciprocal borrowing enables you to borrow library material from any Florida state-funded community college or university. Show your SCC Card (or photo ID and SCC library card for retired faculty and staff) when you visit other schools' libraries. Currently registered students from other Florida Community Colleges and Universities may check out materials by presenting a valid ID from their respective school.

What about overdue fines?

No fines are assessed on General Collection materials. Borrowers who do not return materials will be charged for item replacement cost, plus a nonrefundable service charge of $5.00. A $5.00 service fee will be charged for each Reserve item not returned on time.
