Department and Division Support

Department Chair,George BernardThe Legal Studies Program forms a part of a larger unit, the Department of Business, Legal and Office Administration. Our Department Chair is Mr. George Bernard, who is a Professor of Business Administration and Accounting.

Our Department is also part of a larger unit, the Division of Career Programs, which oversees many Departments including Nursing and other health fields, Interior Design, Automobile Mechanics, and Construction Trades, in addition to our own Department, just to name a few. The head of a Division is known as a "Dean." Our Division's Dean is Angela Kersenbrock, who originally came to SCC as an Adjunct Professor of Nursing.

Division Dean, Angela KersenbrockPrograms such as ours do not exist in a vacuum, although not infrequently there is a great deal of tension or competition between programs and departments within a division, and there is very little support for any particular program.

We are very pleased to both publicly and privately advise and acknowledge the support our Legal Studies Program has received from both our Department Chair, George Bernard, and our Dean, Angela Kersenbrock. For instance, recently, and for the first time ever, our Program was able to make certain book scholarships available to our students. These scholarships were the brainchild of Dean Kersenbrock, and Chairman Bernard personally did a great deal of the legwork to secure them from the donor.

Thus, when you join our Program, you not only become part of our family of students, grads and professors, but also of a much larger support base which is equally interested in your success.
