Break Semesters - Vacations

In compliance with new immigration rules and regulations, an F-1 student is considered to be "in status" during the annual vacation if the student has completed the equivalent of an academic year (two consecutive semesters) prior to taking the vacation or semester off and intends to register for the next term. Seminole Community College has adopted the summer term as its official break term. A student may only take one vacation term per year. Students must understand that if they change their minds regarding a break semester, they must notify the International Office before the end of the current semester in order for their SEVIS file to be updated. A student's status may change if the student stops going to school and/or withdraws from classes. If the student loses his/her status after a break semester authorization from the International Office, the following form is null and void. If a student would like to have a different break semester, he/she must consult the International Advisor.

To obtain the Break Semester Authorization form, contact your International Advisor. It is the student's responsibility to submit this form before the end of the current semester.
