Recruitment
- The chair of the committee and/or other appropriate
administrator will initiate recruitment by completing a Job Requisition - HR-220 in accordance with available recruitment options. Appendix A outlines the procedure for processing recruitment
request forms.
- Recruitment waivers for faculty, administrative, technical, career
service, and part-time positions must be approved by the President
and, generally, will only be granted in the following instances:
- when a pool of applicants already exists from recruitment efforts conducted
no more that 3 months prior and the recommended applicant competed for the
position
- when a current temporary employee, who previously competed for
his/her position, is recommended to that same position for regular
employment
- when the position to be filled is a temporary assignment of 6
months or less
- interim appointments made by the President.
Process
- The position description must be approved, signed and dated by both the
hiring manager and the hiring manager's supervisor to authorize advertising
on the web and other external media sources and attached to the Job Requisition - HR-220. In cases where revisions are not necessary, the hiring manager needs to
make this fact known by sending an e-mail to HR employment referencing the
Job Title.
- When required signatures on the Job Requisition - HR-220 and Position Description have
been obtained, the position will be advertised.
- Unless an exception is approved, all administrative and faculty
vacancies will be advertised for at least 4 weeks beginning on a Friday and ending on a subsequent Thursday.
- Career service and part-time vacancies will be advertised for at
least 2 weeks beginning on a Friday and ending on a subsequent Thursday.
- Vacancies will usually be advertised through print media, the Internet,
professional organizations, and other means.
- Every effort will be made to ensure that the applicant pool is diverse.
- Hiring managers are encouraged to provide the Human Resources employment
staff with suggestions and requests to advertise through alternate sources
(i.e. specific trade journals).
- Applicants for instructional positions will be required to provide
transcripts (unofficial copies are acceptable) by the posted closing date.
- Transcripts (unofficial copies are acceptable) will be required of
applicants for some administrative positions.
- Current employees of the college, as well as all other applicants, will
be required to submit a complete set of application materials for each
position in which they are interested.

Application Deadlines
- By the application deadline, all applicants must submit a completed
Seminole Community College application and copies of unofficial
transcripts (if a position requirement).
- The applications must be accepted in person at the Human Resources
Office, received by FAX, or postmarked by the deadline date to be eligible
for review by the search committee. Applications received or postmarked
after the deadline date will only be reviewed upon written request from
the search committee chair.

"Soft Closing" Open Until Filled
- Applications must be accepted in person at the Human Resources Office,
received by FAX or postmarked on the designated date to be eligible for
review by the search committee.
- Applications received after the designated date will only be provided to the
screening committee chair upon a written request to Human Resources or from
the search committee chair.

Receipt Acknowledgement
- The Human Resources Office will acknowledge receipt of the application
materials, respond to requests for additional information regarding the
vacancy and advise applicants with regard to the minimum qualifications of
the position.

Search Committee
- The search committee should review the position
description and establish screening criteria and submit a Paper Screening
Checklist - HR125 to HR prior to picking up applications for screening purposes.
- Application materials will then be available for search committee
check-out and review beginning the Wednesday after the position
closes.
- In some cases, search committees will review the same group of
application files on more than one campus/center.
- The Human Resources Office will establish a schedule and ensure proper
security for circulating
files to various locations as needed.

- Special notes and application requirements
- Notice of reasonable accommodations

Salary Information
- Salary information for positions will be provided on internal and
external announcements in accordance with these guidelines.
- Salary figures given will be the minimum of the range for
administrative, career service, staff and office support, and part-time positions.
- A salary range from the minimum to the doctorate level with 7 years of
experience will be given for faculty positions. For example, the
announcement for a 196-day faculty position that requires a master's
degree will include this language (figures are from the latest salary
schedule):
- Anticipated hiring range is $31,836 to $39,810 based on
qualifications (degree and verifiable experience).
- Exceptions or special
requests for advertising salary or salary ranges must be specified on
the recruitment request form and must be supported by appropriate
documentation. (Salary exceptions are reviewed by Human Resources and
require approval by the President).
- For example, if the maximum starting salary for a particular "high
tech" job is $50,000, this should be noted on the recruitment request.
The advertised salary information will be:
- Starting salary up to $50,000, based on qualifications, or
- Anticipated hiring range is $42,000 to $50,000 based on qualifications
