Education: Technical Education with Physics Speclialization
College: University of Central Florida
Years at SCC: 5

Why do you enjoy teaching at SCC? I enjoy seeing students, faculty, staff and the community get excited about Astronomy. There is something about explaining the unknown that amazes people. It's great!

What is your personal educational philosophy? My philosophy is that science education can be fun and exciting if presented in a non-intimidating, professional yet unorthodox manner. I try to incorporate interaction in each presentation so that the learner can participate in what is being taught. I also try to limit technical jargon so that everyone in the audience, including children, can understand.

What has been your most significant contribution to SCC? I personally feel my most significant contribution to SCC has been promoting science literacy in the community and the college. I feel the planetarium is not just a place to look at stars but a hub of exchanging scientific ideas that the community can participate in. Some amazing conversations take place here.

What is something most people might be surprised to learn about you? You might have seen a white, two-door sports car with "Space Cadet" on the back window on campus. I am an avid motorsports enthusiast and am working on building my car for autocross or track course racing.

What are your hobbies or special interests? Outside of my passion for science and my work, I enjoy working on my car, composing music, singing, digital art, photography, travel, writing and swimming.

Why would you recommend SCC to a potential student? SCC gives you a chance to seek out what you truly want from life. I know I wouldn't be the same without SCC.
