Admissions Process

International Students
Steps to Enroll

1 Fill out an Application

To obtain an application for admission:

  • Call 407.708.2050.
  • Print it from the SCC Web site (SCC application for admission).
  • Pick one up from any SCC facility: the Sanford/Lake Mary, Oviedo or Altamonte Springs Campuses, or the Heathrow Center.
2 Fill out the International Student Form and provide supporting documents

To obtain an International Student Form:

  • Call 407.708.2172.
  • Print it from the SCC Web site ( International Student Form).
  • Pick one up from any SCC facility: the Sanford/Lake Mary, Oviedo or Altamonte Springs Campuses, or the Heathrow Center.

Supporting Documents:

International Processing Fee of $50 U.S. Dollars (Applications from overseas must use an international money order).

Clear photocopy of passport identification page with current expiration date.

Formal color photograph of student (passport size only).
Financial Support Documents:
All documents must be in English (an official translation done in the home country or in the United States is acceptable). It is required to have a translator/interpreter seal or stamp. Only original documents will be accepted. Facsimiles and photocopies will not be accepted.

If the student is the sponsor he/she must provide "item A only."

If the student has one or more sponsors, each sponsor must provide "item A, B, and C (as supplement if needed). D is for scholarships only (sometimes requires B depending on source of scholarship.)

Item A: Current bank letter
Must be on official bank letterhead with an official signature from a bank representative, bank stamp or seal, indicating when the account was opened, the type of account, and the average and current balance in U.S. dollars. This document cannot be more than 6 months old.

Item B: Affidavit of Support with "notarization stamp"
Note:
It is possible to have more than one sponsor. The sponsor(s) need not reside in the United States, nor do they need to be family relatives.

Item C: Verification of employment letter
Must be on business stationery with original seal or stamp and official signature from the company or institution. Must state job title, annual or monthly salary (if paid on hourly basis: how much per hour and how many hours per week), and length of time employed.

Item D: Scholarship
The scholarship letter must be printed on business or government stationery showing the dollar amount of the award and what the award covers.
3 Provide your official transcripts
Foreign Education Transcripts: Submit High School Diploma or University Transcript evaluated by World Education Service or Josef Silny and Associates Inc. Your evaluated educational transcripts must be received before an I-20 can be issued for college credit. Transcripts are not required if the student will be attending the Language Institute.
4 Receive your I-20 packet
Make an appointment with the Embassy in your home country, present the required documents along with the I-20 to obtain your F-1 visa.
5 Arrive in the United States and report to the International Office
Provide the International Office with your I-20, I-94, passport, and F-1 visa.
6 Complete an Entrance Exam
If you have taken the SAT or ACT, an official copy must be on file in SCC's Records Office before your advising appointment. If you have not taken either test, Computerized Placement Test (CPT) is provided on walk-in basis. Click her for testing hours.
7 Attend the mandatory F-1 orientation
F-1 students are required to attend the additional orientation to learn about F-1 regulations.
8 Create your MySCC Student Account
Visit www.scc-fl.edu and click on MySCC. Follow the instructions to create a new student account. If you have questions, click on the MySCC Help link or call the MySCC help line at 407.708.2050.
9 View SCC’s Online Orientation
Orientation is mandatory for all new students. During orientation you will learn about College policies and procedures, and campus activities. For more information, please call 407.708.2050. Click here to view online orientation.
10 Meet with an Academic Adviser
Following your online orientation, you will have the opportunity to meet with an academic adviser. The adviser will use your test scores and transcripts to help you plan your course schedule. Please bring to your advising appointment either:
  • Your evaluated, unofficial SCC transcript, accessible via MySCC
  • Your unofficial transcripts from any previous colleges you may have attended.
Please note: transcripts that have not been evaluated by SCC's Records Office will affect your class selection.
11 Register for Classes
Following advisement, return to the Admissions Office to register for your first term using MySCC. F-1 Students must enroll in 12 credit hours.
12 Pay Fees
After you register for your classes, check your "Total Due Charges" on MySCC to find out how much you owe the College and your payment due date. You can pay at a cashier window or online using MySCC. SCC accepts cash, debit card, personal check, American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa.
