Dream Auction to feature Capitol Steps
With a presidential election on the horizon, 2008 is bound to be a hot year for politics. The Seminole Community College Foundation Inc. is capitalizing on the political season with its 24th Annual Dream Auction Gala, set for Feb. 23.
The Dream Auction will include an appearance by the renowned political satire group Capitol Steps. The Washington, D.C.-based comedy troupe, known for its song parodies, has toured extensively and appeared on several nationally televised programs.
For the first time this year, the Dream Auction will feature a raffle format to allow greater participation from the Gala guests. Featured packages include weeklong vacations to Vail, Colo., and County Wicklow, Ireland; tickets to major sporting events; luxury packages such as spa treatments; and golf packages. Packages will be raffled throughout the evening with all proceeds supporting SCC. It is not necessary to attend the Gala to win a great prize.
A few sponsorships and tables are still available for the event, which will be held at the Orlando Marriott-Lake Mary Conference Center, 1501 International Parkway, in Lake Mary. To reserve a spot or purchase a pre-sale raffle ticket, contact Sarah Balas, SCC Foundation assistant director of development, at 407.708.2410.
The Dream Auction Gala, now in its 24th year, has become an annual celebration for SCC, its supporters and the community. The 2007 event raised more than $150,000 and was highlighted by a $250,000 contribution from Wharton-Smith Inc.
