Are you Ready to be a Project Director?
Being a project director will require you to juggle multiple roles. For example, most projects require you to be a manager, a program promoter and a budget monitor. Ask yourself the following questions. Your answers will provide insight into whether or not your interests or strengths fit the profile of a project director role.
- Do you balance your checkbook? Or understand your income taxes?
- Can you cite examples of projects you have managed in the past (work or home projects)?
- Do you have time to manage a project?
- Why do you want to do this project?
- Is there anything that might prevent you from completing the project on time and on budget?
- Are you a "big picture" person?
A list of sample common project director duties:
- Monitor monthly budget reports.
- Work with Office of Grant Development and Management (OGDM) to recommend and make budget changes.
