Fire Safety Inspector I Certification

To be certified as a Fire Safety Inspector I in the State of Florida, an individual must:

  • Successfully complete 200 hours of basic certification training for fire safety inspectors or have received training in another state
  • Pass a state written examination
  • Submit documentation of training with the required Application for Fire Safety Inspector Certification Examination (DI4-1023), Personal Injury Waiver (DI-1020) and all other supporting documents.

Note: All documents must be sent at least 10 business days prior to the scheduled test date. Also, the application requires a fingerprint card that must be obtained from the Bureau of Fire Standards and be submitted with the application. Please refer to Application and Fingerprint Car Instructions and Fee Information (DI4-1019).

Note: All currently certified Fire Safety Inspectors are mandated by law to attend the FSFC 0119 NFPA 1 course, prior to January 1, 2002. This course is designed to familiarize the Fire Safety Inspector with the newly adopted Florida Fire Prevention Code. Please forward proof of completing this course, in the form of an official certificate or transcript, to the Bureau of Fire Standards Training. Fire Safety Inspector II Certification

The following courses can be taken in addition to the Fire Safety Inspector I curriculum to obtain a Fire Safety Inspector II Certification.
