- Act as a central resource for teaching and learning materials
- Provide opportunities for new faculty to become oriented to SCC
- Provide a collegial space for faculty to collaborate on teaching and learning projects
- Recognize faculty achievements and excellence
- Collaborate with faculty centers at other community colleges and universities
The mission of the Advisory Committee:
Committee members discussed the mission of the Advisory Committee and provided suggestions. The revised proposal follows:
- Provide ideas on the development of The Faculty Teaching/Learning Institute and its offerings
- Ensure ongoing and open communication with all faculty about The Faculty Teaching/Learning Institute and its programs

- Help to identify and promote faculty opportunities, achievements, and excellence

Faculty Survey:
Committee members discussed how to survey the faculty to identify the types of workshops and seminars to offer. The Committee decided to develop a short survey to be included in the Welcome Back booklet and faculty mailboxes. Although an electronic survey was discussed, the Committee thought a hard copy survey and a short deadline would provide the most responses from faculty. A draft of the survey will be discussed at the next meeting.
The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 7, 2:00 p.m., in T-2, the site of the temporary Faculty Teaching/Learning Institute.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:00 pm.
