About the Distance Learning Department at SCC

• Provide ANGEL/DL Helpdesk for students
• Provide support to faculty for online, video, mixed-mode and Web-enhanced courses
• Provide faculty training for online, video and Web-enhanced courses
• Research new courses for various disciplines and assist faculty in selecting updated online and video courses
• Distribute Distance Learning Welcome Information (welcome e-mails, DL dept. information, instructor welcome letters) to students each term
• Implement Distance Learning Course Exit Survey/Evaluation each term and return results to faculty to review after results have been compiled and analyzed
• Coordinate DL Faculty Mentor Program
• Provide consulting services to meet faculty needs in support of instructional technology
• Assist faculty with:
  • instructional design and course development for courses in all DL modes
  • development of new course material
  • requesting publisher content
  • conversion of existing course materials for online delivery
  • graphics and multimedia creation
  • obtaining copyright permissions
  • course reviews
