SCC Issue Resolution Resources

As a valued Seminole Community College employee, the following resources are available to assist you with workplace challenges.

Employee Relations Office

If you are faced with a work-related issue, you are first encouraged to consult with your supervisor to discuss and implement a solution. If, after meeting with your supervisor, the issue remains unresolved, SCC's Employee Relations Representative can help you determine which resources and/or services are best suited to guide you toward achieving a positive resolution.

All College employees may utilize the Employee Relations Office's services which include listening, counseling, advising and referrals to outside agencies for additional assistance or support. An Employee Relations Representative will meet with you at any SCC location.

SCC's trained Employee Relations Representatives can assist faculty and staff members with:
  • Work-related challenges related to attendance, working conditions, or assignments, job performance and disciplinary matters.
  • Communication difficulties and conflict resolution.
  • Clarification of College policies and procedures.
  • Training opportunities.
  • Support through the Employee Assistance Plan (EAP).
Equity Office

Following your meeting with SCC's Employee Relations Representative, you may be referred to the Equity Office to further explore and address your concerns. The Equity Coordinator is trained to analyze and respond to discriminatory practices and/or procedures as they relate to age (over 40), disability (visible or invisible), ethnicity/national origin, gender (including sexual harassment), race (color), religion, sexual orientation and/or veteran status (not applicable for faculty). Current College employees, those seeking employment at SCC, students and College visitors may utilize the services provided by the Equity Office and are encouraged to report discriminatory acts or harassment. Appointments with the Equity Coordinator can be scheduled to take place at any SCC location before, during or after regular work hours.

The Equity Coordinator can assist you by:
  • Providing information, training and resources regarding gender treatment, the prevention of discrimination, equal opportunity, disability matters and veterans policies.
  • Consulting with employees and students on matters concerning equal access/equal opportunity.
  • Investigating complaints of harassment and discrimination.
Ombudsman Office

If you find that your concerns have not been resolved to your satisfaction after meeting with the Employee Relations Representative and/or the Equity Coordinator, you may seek assistance from SCC's Ombudsman.

Employees can seek the following assistance from the Ombudsman:
  • Advice for alternative courses of action and issue resolution.
  • Mediation.
  • Recommendations for changes in policies, procedures or processes.
