What is the FDLE Exam?

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement Exam is a certification test controlled by the State of Florida. The exam:

  • Measures your knowledge and competency in your chosen criminal justice field
  • Is a state requirement for working as a criminal justice officer

There are several FDLE exams. Each exam correlates to the basic recruit requirements for a specific officer type. The exams are:

  • Law enforcement officer
  • Correctional officer
  • Correctional probation officer

What is the exam content?

There are certain criteria you must meet before you can become an entry-level officer in a specific area. The certification exams measure your competency in the criminal justice field.

How do I take an FDLE exam?

1. Complete an exam application. Contact the FDLE for an application, or visit them online at www.fdle.state.fl.us.

2. Send the completed application & the $100 fee to FDLE before the application deadline date. Check with the FDLE for application deadlines. You can pay the application fee by check or money order. Send the completed application to:
