Criminal Justice: Auxiliary Law Enforcement Officers

Auxiliary police officers work under the supervision and direction of other law enforcement officers and are sometimes referred to as volunteer police. Auxiliary police officers perform general law enforcement duties as directed by other law enforcement personnel. They are appointed and often employed when the normal contingency of officers is too small to manage a situation. While performing duties, they have full police powers but generally do not receive salary or wages for performing their duties.
