CPEC Meeting Minutes - March 9, 2007

President, Ron Krodel, opened the meeting at 10 a.m. in V104C.

Old Business
  • Salute to Outgoing officers
    New President, Ron Krodel extended appreciation to Bill Stanier and Vernita Carter for the great leadership and support for CPEC in 2006.
  • Current Finance Update
    CPEC has one account in the SCC Foundation. Currently, the account balance is $269.74. It was decided by members to spend $60 on a 'token of appreciation' to the 2nd Annual Administrative Professionals Workshop in April 2007. FACC and CPEC will donate a combined $120 to this event. The purchased item has not been decided upon.
  • Outstanding Items
    No outstanding items from the 2006 year were discussed.
New Business
  • Introduction of New Officers
    The 2007 New Officers are President-Ron Krodel of Property Control, Secretary-Julie Knott of Criminal Justice, and President Elect-Linda Cowels of the President's Office.
  • Meeting Schedule/Times
    It was decided by the members present that the meeting schedule would be approximately every other month.
  • Fund-raising Ideas
    Much discussion took place regarding possible fund-raising events. This year's goal is $500. The following ideas were brought up for suggestion:
    • Jewelry and Scent Sale. Originally this was planned for End of March/Early April, but it has been scheduled for May 9, 2007 at SLM and May 10, 2007 at Oviedo. This sale will require donations of jewelry and un-used perfume/colognes. Donations may be delivered to Ron in the mailroom. A flyer will be sent out to all members. This will be a joint FACC/CPEC fund raiser. Volunteers to work the 'booth' are needed!
    • Bake Sale: at the Jewelry & Scent Sale in May. Donations and volunteers needed!
    • Graduation Flowers: Set up a table at the Graduation ceremonies during the school year and sell fresh flowers and possibly cards. A contact to buy the flowers from and a place to store them is needed. This is to be a joint FACC/CPEC fund raiser.
    • Basket Sale: Donation of baskets put together by various departments on campus and sold.
    • Faculty and Staff Craft Sale: A great opportunity to showcase the talents of our employees!
    • Fall Extravaganza/Rummage Sale: Donations and Volunteers are needed!
  • New Initiatives
    One of the 2007 CPEC initiatives is to keep the career professional employees of SCC informed up current events on the campus. Thanks to Michael Garlich and the Executive Team for the development of the 1st Wednesday newsletter! The 1st Wednesday newsletter is a good sample of the updates received at the President's Council meetings.
  • Another initiative for the upcoming year is to work closely with FACC.
