CLAST  -  College Level Academic Skills Test

The State of Florida requires the CLAST exam to complete an Associate in Arts degree in all Florida public institutions.  A.A. students will take the CLAST or file for a CLAST exemption before graduation.

NOTE:  Associate of Science and certificate students are not required to take the CLAST exam.

Steps to follow:

  1. Meet with a counselor/adviser to determine if you are eligible for a CLAST exemption.  You may obtain this information during a review of your Degree Audit.  On rare occasions, students are eligible for a CLAST Waiver.
  2. Go to the Assessment and Testing Department to sign up for the CLAST exam or request the CLAST exemption.  CLAST exams are given in October, February and June of each academic year.  Check the Academic Calendar for CLAST registration and test dates.

The Testing and Assessment Office has more information on the CLAST exam.
