Computer Programming and AnalysisComputer programming and system analysis are two of the fastest growing occupations in Florida and nationwide. The Bureau of Labor Statistics ranks each in its "Top 5" list of fastest growing positions. A recent survey by the Information Technology Association of America estimated that 10 percent of the information technology jobs nationwide are unfilled. The Computer Programming and Analysis Programs at Seminole Community College combine programming, system design, system analysis, database and networking courses to provide a well-rounded curriculum with the depth necessary to prepare students for positions as programmers, programmer/analysts or system, technical support or database analysts. SCC offers dual two-year programs leading to an Associate of Science degree and a one-year program leading to a technical certificate. Students can take day, evening or weekend classes taught by SCC's knowledgeable business-savvy faculty. Classes utilize state-of-the-art hardware and software, and many of them are available online. The A.S. degree program gives students the foundation to continue their education at a four-year university or immediately enter the job market as a programmer or programmer/trainee.
Individual courses within these programs enable students to keep their skills current and may advance their career if they are already an information systems/data processing professional. Hands-on activities are the foundation of the programs, and graduates are well prepared to take certification examinations to become Microsoft-certified developers or professionals or Novell-certified network administrators. Certification exams can be taken at the SCC Professional Testing and Certification Center. |
