Workforce DevelopmentThe American workplace is undergoing a rapid revolution affecting the way people work today, how they are prepared for today's workforce, and how they are trained and retrained throughout their work lives. A common goal for education and business has emerged. Educating and training have become most important to the Central Florida economy and to our standard of living. As a full partner in achieving this goal, Seminole Community College is leading the way in the workforce development movement. Seminole Community College has long been a leader in the traditional workforce development programs, such as Associate in Science degrees, technical certificates, continuing education courses, and customized training courses for specific businesses/ industries. The College's vision has now been broadened even more in an effort to cooperate and collaborate with local economic and business/ industry entities to leverage private, state, and federal resources and redirect them toward the education and training of diverse populations in Florida's targeted high-skill, high-wage occupations. The College now offers a seamless educational experience from adult basic skills to the point of entry into the local workforce or transition to the third year in the State University System. The programs that follow have been designed to provide some piece of that seamless system. |
