Farmwoker Jobs and Education Program

Purpose: The primary goals of the Farmworker Program enables farmworkers and their dependents to obtain and retain full-time employment; offer participation in other program activities leading to their eventual placement in unsubsidized employment; allow activities leading to stabilization in agricultural employment; and include related assistance and supportive services.

Eligibility: Adults who meet the federal guidelines governing the classification of migrant and/or seasonal farmworkers may participate in the program.

Requirements: Students must participate in the general education programs and the occupational training programs that will provide the necessary skills for placement in jobs with upward mobility.

Job Placement: The success of the program is measured in terms of the number of students who are placed in jobs. In recent years, the College-sponsored program has provided job placement for 80 percent of the program participants. Program graduates have been employed in law enforcement, telephone technology, health-related occupations, secretarial and related office practice, childcare and a variety of skilled manufacturing positions.
