Emergency Procedures An emergency is defined as the illness or injury of an individual while on a Seminole Community College campus or any disturbance on a campus which, if action were not taken immediately, could result in a serious injury or possible death. If anyone is in doubt whether a certain situation should be treated as an emergency, follow the emergency procedures. The Emergency Operations Procedures are designed to be utilized in concert with the Hurricane Brochure; and the Emergency Response Manual. The established emergency procedure involves the notification of the campus switchboard that an emergency has occurred. This is accomplished by dialing "0." When the operator answers, provide the following information:
The switchboard operator will notify the appropriate emergency personnel (i.e., campus security, rescue unit, ambulance, police, fire, or other needed services). Until emergency personnel arrive, Seminole Community College staff will take whatever actions are appropriate to address the situation. If an ill or injured student elects not to be transported by appropriate emergency personnel, College personnel shall not transport or arrange for transportation of ill or injured student. HousingSeminole Community College does not provide on-campus housing. Lost and FoundAny article found should be delivered to that campus' Security Office. The College will dispose of unclaimed articles after 30 days. Students are required to keep the College informed of their current mailing address. The College meets all notice requirements to students by sending to the last mailing address provided by the student. Students should have all personal mail sent to their residence address. Change of address cards may be obtained in the Enrollment Services Office. Medical ServicesNo medical facilities are available to students on any campus. First aid packets are located in strategic locations throughout the campus for emergency use only. Campus medical emergencies are handled as listed in the Emergency Procedures section of this catalog. Parking and Traffic RegulationsAt the time of registration, each student who plans to park his motor vehicle on the campus is issued a copy of the parking regulations and a free parking decal that is valid for the academic year. After the first day of classes of any term, faculty, staff, and students may not park any motor vehicle on any College campus at any time unless that vehicle has been properly registered and the parking permit has been appropriately displayed. Students may receive a copy of the parking regulations and a parking decal from any SCC cashier. |
