Student Government Association (SGA)

SGA meetings are held on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus on Mondays at 12:30 p.m. in the Student Center and on the Oviedo Campus on Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m. in room OVF 108 and at the Altamonte Springs Campus.  All college credit and career programs students are welcome to attend.

SGA's Mission

The purpose of SGA is to provide the students of Seminole Community College with a representative form of government, so that acting in unison, the SGA may promote, regulate, and coordinate activities that may impact the entire community and help the College create a learning environment inside and outside the classroom that increases the chances that students succeed at Seminole Community College.

Student Roles in Campus Decision-Making

The participation of students in the College's decision-making process is an important institutional value. Informal participation occurs in many ways (program and instructor evaluations, needs analysis, discussions with administrators), but formal participation occurs through the Student Government Association. During orientation sessions, college credit, and career programs students receive information about SGA and are asked to indicate their interest in participating as a member of the SGA. Members are appointed as voting members to many campus committees where they influence decisions for a variety of issues from curriculum to the remodeling of College facilities. Students interested in serving on the SGA may contact the Student Activities Office at 407.708.2678.
