General Admission Procedures

The procedure for freshmen or transfer students seeking admission to Seminole Community College is as follows:

  1. Obtain an application for admission from the SCC Admissions Office or print one from SCC's Web site: www.scc-fl.edu.
  2. Complete the application for admission and return it to the Admissions Office. The applicant is notified of the status of his/her application by mail.
  3. Complete one of the state approved college credit entry tests (ACT, SAT-1, or CPT). Students who have taken one of the state approved entry tests at another institution should have the scores forwarded to the SCC Admissions Office. If test scores are more than two years old, students should contact the SCC Assessment and Testing Office (407.708.2020) to schedule an appointment for CPT testing. Non-credit vocational students are required to complete a state approved skills test prior to enrolling in any non-credit vocational program. Students presenting a College Ready Diploma (CRD) issued to Florida public high school graduates beginning in 1998 may be waived from placement testing, provided they enroll in the appropriate general education coursework within two years of graduation from high school.
  4. Consult the College Academic Calendar Section in this catalog for important admission and registration dates.
  5. The Admissions Office will notify students regarding orientation and registration.
  6. International Students must contact the International Student Office (room A-104, building A, Sanford/Lake Mary Campus or call 407.708.2041).
  7. Second language English speakers whose CPT scores and/or timed writing samples reflect a need for college preparatory English may be required to take specifically designed English For Academic Purposes courses, Adult Education ESOL courses, or intensive English Language Institute courses. Please refer to the catalog section, English For Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
  8. Applicants with a disability who require information about the admission process, an application for admission, or any other information in an alternative format should contact SCC's Disability Support Services in room: S-002 at the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus or at 407.708.2109 or TDD/TTY 407.708.2110.
  9. Disciplinary Suspension: An applicant suspended from another institution for disciplinary reasons will not be admitted until eligible for re-admission to the suspending institution. In accordance with Florida Statutes, a student who has previously been expelled from a Florida community college or university for unlawful possession, sale, or use of narcotic drugs is not admitted to Seminole Community College for a period of one year from the date of expulsion. A student who has been found guilty of campus disruption will not be admitted to SCC for a period of two years from the date of such finding. In exceptional cases, students may petition the Admission and Graduation Committee for further consideration. The Office of the Vice President for Student Success Services should be consulted for information concerning the petition procedure.
  10. Applicants who do not provide official high school and entry level test scores used for placement (CPT, E-ACT, or SAT-1 taken within the past two years) or postsecondary transcripts are classified as Provisional Admission status until the required documents are received. A student in this status is not allowed further registrations.
  11. The College may consider the past actions of any person applying for admission or enrollment and may deny admission or enrollment to an applicant because of misconduct if determined to be in the best interest of Seminole Community College.
  12. Furnishing false or fraudulent statements in connection with an application for admission or residency affidavit may result in disciplinary action, denial of admission, loss of financial aid, and invalidation of credits or degrees earned.
  13. Seminole Community College does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, ethnicity, national origin, gender, age, sexual orientation, marital or disability status in any of its educational programs or other programs and practices.
