Community Education Community Education is a self-supporting department offering a wide variety of non-credit programs and services for community residents of all ages and interests seeking self-enrichment. Community Education programs include community music, recreation and leisure, Seminole Adult Learning Institute (SALI), and youth programs. Courses are offered at flexible times during the day and evening hours, weekdays and weekends, at convenient locations SCC's Altamonte Springs, Heathrow, Oviedo, and Sanford/Lake Mary Campuses, and at community outreach locations. - Community Music program - The community music program is co-sponsored by Community Education and the Division of Arts and Sciences. Group and private classes for youth and adults are offered with a focus on piano and guitar. General musicianship classes are available for high school students who are interested in majoring in college-level music.
- Recreation and Leisure - Offered year-round, recreation and leisure programs are designed to respond to the diverse needs of children, adults, and seniors by providing non-credit, affordable, and accessible short courses in art, language, sports, safety, dance, fitness, communication, computers, financial success, writing, personal development, and much more.
- Seminole Adult Learning Institute - The Seminole Adult Learning Institute (SALI) is designed for persons age 50+. SALI allows participants to broaden their horizons and stimulate their interests by choosing courses based on their particular areas of interest, such as literature, humanities, computers, arts, exercise, history, and world events. SALI classes encourage student interaction and foster socialization with peers who have similar interests.
- Youth Programs - The purpose of SCC's youth programs is to open the world of diverse interests to children by improving their social, mental, physical, moral, and leadership skills. All classes cultivate pro-active, learning-centered activities that enrich the child's experience and are taught under positive supervision and safe environments by caring instructors.
