Mission Statement

The purpose of the Department of Biological Sciences is to promote a thorough understanding of biological principles and scientific methodology;  to offer a variety of courses that equip students for a complex and changing world; to provide experience with state-of-the-art technology in biological sciences;  to prepare students for further study in scientific disciplines;  and to encourage students to develop their critical thinking abilities.

SCC biology faculty members were awarded a National Science Foundation grant to provide state-of-the-art technology for student experimentation in General Biology.
