TACT: Technicians Automotive Career Training

TACT - Technician Automotive Career Training Technician's Automotive Career Training (TACT) is a two-year program designed to enhance the technical competence and professional level of technicians entering the workforce. A new era of automotive technology demands a new generation of automotive technicians. Experience with the latest servicing and diagnostic procedures along with training on the current equipment used in the industry enables TACT students to meet these demands.

The curriculum is designed in cooperation with local industry (factory dealerships and independent shops) and in accordance with ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) and NATEF (National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation) standards. Along with classroom work, students will participate in a cooperative work program that allows for hands-on training.

TACT Features
  • TACT StudentsDivided into alternating schedules: seven weeks of classroom, lab, and on-the-car experience and seven weeks of cooperative on-the-job work experience at a participating car repair facility
  • Associates in Science Degree
  • Training by highly qualified instructors

To participate in SCC's TACT program, you must be academically qualified and you must have a dealership or independent garage employer. It is this cooperative effort between the college and industry that will provide you with the needed on campus training and "real work experiences."
