ASE Awards of Excellence - 1997 and 1998
ASE Awards of Excellence are judged by the Industry Planning Council (IPC). There are three divisions in the competition, secondary; post-secondary, non-manufacturer affiliated; and post-secondary, manufacturer affiliated. Seminole Community College won first place two consecutive years, receiving $10,000 for student scholarships and $10,000 worth of Snap-on tools each year.
Bill Weber - 2006 Endowed Teaching Chair
"This award is a wonderful opportunity to recognize and appreciate our faculty, who are extending themselves to our students each day, encouraging their learning and enhancing their education, and for some, changing their lives," said Dr. Carol L. Hawkins, Vice President Educational Programs/Chief Learning Officer. The competitive selection process was rigorous and included being nominated by peers; students or administrators; a brief philosophy of teaching from the nominee; surveys completed by the College community; classroom visits by a screening committee which included a cross section of past winners, faculty and department chairs; objective data supplied by Institutional Research, and finalist interviews with the Foundation Board, administrators of the award funding. Additionally, objective data compared course completion rates, grade distribution and multiple terms of student evaluations. Read about Weber's accomplishments and contributions to SCC. |
