SCC's women's golf team wins first tournament

SCC's women's golf team finished first in the season's first tournament Sept. 14 against Warner Southern and Webber International at Oakwood Country Club in Lake Wales, Fla.

Suzanne Ervin of Schertz, Texas, finished second; Eva Rogers of Rockledge, Fla., and Rio Milord of Delray Beach, Fla., tied for third; and Chelsea Sargent of Montgomery, Texas, finished sixth to propel SCC to a 19-shot victory.

This is the first season for women's golf at SCC. The team was added this spring with Ladies Professional Golf Association veteran Christa Teno tapped as head coach.

SCC's women's golf team 10th in second tournament; Rio Milford places ninth individually

SCC's women's golf team finished 10th out of 13 teams in the Lady Falcon Invitational tournament last weekend in Daytona Beach, Fla.

The Raiders struggled on the first day of the tournament but improved their performance on the second day by 26 shots. Freshman Rio Milord of Delray Beach, Fla., shot a 75 and 74, finishing ninth overall.

Suzanne Ervin, Eva Rogers and Chelsea Sargent improved their scores greatly on Saturday. Ervin and Sargent both improved by nine shots; Ervin shot an 84 Friday and a 75 Saturday, and Sargent shot an 89 the first day and an 80 Saturday. Rogers improved by seven shots, with an 85 the first day and a 78 the second.

"I am very pleased and not at all surprised at how well the team played the second day," said Head Coach Christa Teno.. "I am very proud of them all."
