Christa Teno

Christa TenoChrista Teno, a former LPGA tour player, will lead the new women's golf team as its head coach.

Teno joins SCC with 32 years of golf experience and 19 years of teaching experience. She played four years on the LPGA Tour and was a PGA apprentice. Teno is also a Class A member of the LPGA Teaching Division and is involved in the LPGA's education process as a national evaluator.

"Coach Teno's background as an elite junior golfer, college player, tour professional and coach will help draw the best athletes to SCC," Athletic Director John Scarpino said. "In addition, this program will give young women the opportunity for an education that previously was not available at the community college level in Central Florida."

Teno's career highlights include:

  • South East Section Team Champion: 1998-2000
  • SE Section LPGA Tournament: third in 1998, second in 1999, third in 2006
  • LPGA Tour Player: 1989-1991, 1996
  • Women's US Open Participant: 1988
  • Gold Coast Tour Champion: 1994, 1995
  • 19 Top Ten finishes on Gold Coast Tour: 1994, 1995
  • Future's Golf Tour: second on Money List 1992
  • North Texas State Female Athlete of the Year: 1985

Teno holds a bachelor's degree in Interpersonal and Public Communication from North Texas State University. She officially assumed her coaching responsibilities at SCC on March 1, 2007.
