Raider Men's Basketball NewsMen's basketball team wins close game against CFCCThe men's basketball team improved their record to 16-7 with a one basket win over Central Florida CC Saturday, with a final score of 67-65. Tyrone Curnell led the team with 23 points and four rebounds. Brandon Robinson added 14 points while Jimmy Chatelain had 12 points and seven rebounds. Men's team lose in OT to CFCCThe men's basketball team dropped a tough one Wednesday night in overtime, 77-74, against Central Florida CC. With the scored tied at 67, the Raiders had the ball, but Matt Stilwell's shot went in and out. Darrien Beacham's rebound rimed in and out as time expired. Tyrone Curnell had 31 points for the Raiders, Matt Stilwell added 16 and Jacques Leeds added 15. The loss drops the Raiders to 12-6 on the year and 0-1 in conference play. The men's team is ranked no. 9 in the latest state poll. Raiders split two during weekend tournamentThe men's team won one and lost one this past weekend at the Juco Shootout held in Ocala, Fla. On Saturday night playing the number one team in the nation Chipola, the Raiders lost 92-82. Tyrone Curnell had 21 points while Brandon Robinson added 18. Jaques Leeds chipped in 13 and DeAndre Williams dropped in 10. On Sunday afternoon the Raiders downed Broward, the number two ranked team in the state, 108-104. Curnell again lead the Raiders with 30 points while Robinson had 23. Bobby Hayes added 12 and Williams chipped in 11. The Raiders enter the break with a 10-5 record and were ranked ninth in the state last week. SCC's win streak snapped by TCCThe Raiders fell to Tallahassee CC Saturday with a final score of 83-69. Sophomore Tyrone Curnell had 21 points and 4 rebounds while Bobby Hayes netted 18 points. Brandon Robinson posted 11 points and 3 boards. The men's team faces another tough challenge next weekend, taking on no. 1 ranked Chipola CC Saturday at 6 p.m. and no. 3 ranked Broward CC Sunday. SCC is currently 9-4 this season. Raiders defeat no. 5 Gulf Coast CCSCC's mens basketball team extended their win streak to eight by defeating fifth-ranked Gulf Coast CC by a score of 72-68 Friday night. Sophomore Matt Stilwell led the team with 17 points and 3 rebounds. Jacques Leeds posted 15 points with 7 rebounds while Brandon Robinson had 13 points and 5 boards. SCC's men's basketball team stretches win streak to seven with win over Polk CCSCC continued its winning streak defeating Polk CC 65-57 Wednesday night at home. Freshman Brandon Robinson led the team with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Freshman Darrien Beacham added 18 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists while sophomore Jimmy Chatelain led the Raiders in rebounding with 13. The team has a busy weekend ahead of them, facing two highly ranked teams. The Raiders take on Gulf Coast CC Friday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. and Tallahassee CC Saturday at 4 p.m. Both games are at home. Gulf Coast CC is on a nine game winning street and ranked no. 25 in the country and Tallahassee CC is on an eight game winning streak and rated one of the best teams in the state. Raiders on six game win streak with victory over PHCC SaturdayThe men's basketball team continued their winning streak Saturday night defeating Pasco-Hernando CC 88-69 in New Port Richey. Matt Stilwell dropped in 27 points while Darrien Beacham added 13. Brandon Robinson chipped in 10 and Jimmy Chatelain had 10 boards. After getting off to slow start this season, the Raiders improved to 7-3 on the year with the win. Their next game is at home Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 8 p.m. against Polk CC. Men's basketball defeats Hillsborough CC 78-65SCC's men's basketball team defeated Hillsborough CC 78-65 Thursday, Nov. 29. Freshman Darrien Beacham and sophomore Tyrone Curnell posted 18 points with Beacham adding four rebounds and seven assists. Curnell added four rebounds and four assists. Sophomoe Jimmy Chatelain had 16 points in the win, with five rebounds and three blocked shots. Freshman Rashano McRae had 10 rebounds in the victory. The Raiders will defend their five-game win streak against no. 7 ranked Polk CC Wednesday, Dec. 5, at home with tip-off at 8 p.m. SCC posts win over Brevard CC 82-76SCC's men's basketball team posted a win over Brevard CC Wednesday, Nov. 21, 82-76. Sophomore Tyrone Curnell had 26 points in the win and freshman Darrien Beacham notched 10 points. The Raiders are 5-3 on the season. Their next game is Thursday, Nov. 29, against Hillsborough CC. SCC won their last game against HCC 79-69 on Nov. 19. Raiders improve to 4-3 on season; three game win streakThe Raiders men's basketball team lost two tough games against Gulf Coast CC and Tallahassee CC. SCC lost 53-68 against GCCC Friday, Nov. 9. Sophomore Matt Stilwell finished with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Saturday, Nov. 10, the Raiders took on TCC and lost 67-74. Brandon Robinson was the high scorer for the Raiders with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals. Their luck turned during play the following week, winning 64-65 against IMG Academy at home Wednesday, Nov. 14. Darrien Beacham recorded 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Saturday, Nov. 17, SCC posted a 90-66 win over Pasco-Hernando CC with Tyrone Curnell leading the team with 17 points, 11 rebounds and 3 steals. Beacham also finished with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. The Raiders also defeated Hillsborough CC Monday, Nov. 19 by a score of 79-69. Curnell led the team with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Jimmy Chatelain had 17 points and 9 rebounds and Beacham posted 16 points and 8 rebounds. SCC wins season opener against Tampa Bay SwishThe Raiders defeated Tampa Bay Swish by a score of 70-114 at home Saturday, Nov. 3. Newcomers Jaques Leeds and Brandon Robinson had an impressive showing in their first game as Raiders. Leeds scored 25 points with 9 rebounds while Robinson netted 19 points and 5 assists. |
