Ricky Plante

Ricky Plante is in his seventh season as the Raiders' top assistant coach. Plante's duties include working with the Raiders' outfielders and coaching third base, as well as additional duties as recruiting coordinator.

Plante comes to SCC after three successful years as an assistant coach at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He began his collegiate playing career at Lenoir Community College, where he led the team in hitting with a .410 batting average and was named to the NJCAA All-Region X team. After graduating with his A.A. in Business Management, he moved on to the University of North Carolina at Pembroke where he led the team in numerous offensive categories, including batting average, home runs, RBI, walks, slugging percentage and on-base percentage. He set school records in walks, slugging percentage and on-base percentage. At UNC-P, Plante earned his B.S. in Recreation Management, going on to earn his M.A.Ed. in Physical Education and Athletic Administration at nearby East Carolina University, while serving as an assistant coach at UNC-P.

Plante, his wife Shelby, and their daughter Bria and son Gunnar reside in Orange City.
