Student-Athlete Guidelines for Use of the Athletic Training Office

  • All SCC student-athletes are required to have a completed medical packet and proof of medical insurance on-file prior to any participation or medical attention related to SCC Athletics.
  • Failure to report injuries and verify proper documentation in a timely manner will invalidate any insurance coverage by Seminole Community College.
  • Only student-athletes and athletics' staff will be provided Athletic Training Services in the Athletic Training Office.
  • All student-athletes are required to shower and utilize appropriate hygienic applications after practices and games prior to receiving evaluations and treatments in the Athletic Training Office.
  • Emergency situations overrides the rule above.
  • The SCC Athletic Training Office is a co-ed facility. Proper wear of appropriate clothing is required at all times.
  • Athletic Training Office supplies and equipment are not to be removed from the Athletic Training Office without prior authorization by the Certified Athletic Trainer and only after written and documented assignment.

Evaluations and Treatments in the Athletic Training Office

  • The SCC Athletic Training Office is not a student-athlete lounge. We kindly ask those persons not receiving scheduled treatment or pre-game and pre-practice preparations to not be in the Athletic Training Office.
  • All SCC and visiting student-athletes are required to sign-in (providing name, date, sport and injured part) upon entering the Athletic Training Office.
  • Properly store personal items and back packs under assigned treatment table.
  • Scheduling of evaluations for non-emergency injuries is preferred. Scheduled student-athletes receiving treatments or pre-game/pre-practice preparations have priority.
  • Treatment of existing injuries is provided on a scheduled basis only. When scheduling treatment, please allow for approximately 45 minutes. Walk-in treatments are not guaranteed.
  • No-shows to scheduled treatments may result in suspension from athletic activities.
  • Not scheduling required treatments may result in suspension from athletic activities.
  • It is the responsibility of the student-athlete to schedule and verify additional treatments until released.
  • Student-athletes do not dictate treatment.
  • Please be patient.

Student-Athlete Don'ts in the Athletic Training Office

  • Do not disrespect other student-athletes or the Athletic Training staff. Failure to extend courteous and respectful interaction will result in revocation of Athletic Training Office privileges.
  • Continued non-compliance and/or disregard of the rules set fourth herein may result in revocation of Athletic Training Office privileges.
  • No loitering, sleeping, hanging out, or otherwise interpreting the Athletic Training Office as a lounge.
  • No tobacco products in the Athletic Training Room. Violation of this rule will subject the violator to disiplinary actions set forth by SCC's Tobacco Policy of the Department of Athletics Drug Education and Drut Testing Procedure on Alcohol, Tobacco and other Substances.
  • Use of cell phones, music players and other personal electronic devices are not permitted in the Athletic Training Office. Please shut off and store all items prior to entering the Athletic Training Office.
  • Sport drink preparation and/or cooler cleaning is not permitted in the Athletic Training Office.
  • Do not bring sport related equipment in the Athletic Training Office. Please leave all equipment in the hall.
  • Back packs are to be properly stored under the assigned treatment table or against the wall.
  • No food or drink is permitted in the Athletic Training Office by a student-athlete. Any food or drink brought into the Athletic Training Office by a student-athlete is subject to immediate disposal by staff.
  • No cleats are to be worn inside any SCC Campus Building.
  • Do not use the Athletic Training Office as an excuse for being late to practice. Make proper use of your time to assure you are taped and/or prepared no later than 10 minutes before the start of practice.
  • Do not arrive 10 minutes before practice and expect to receive treatments. Pre-authorized arrangements with the Certified Athletic Trainer and team coaching staff is helpful, however this will not guarantee timely treatment/taping.
