Graduation Requirements

SCC Adult High School GraduateTo receive a diploma, students must complete the following general requirements:

  • Earn a minimum of 24 credits.
  • Satisfy all requirements as specified under Course Requirements.
  • Earn a minimum of two full credits including the final credit in the Adult High School.
  • Pass the High School Competency Test (HSCT) or FCAT. These tests are administered several times each year.
  • Discharge all financial obligations to Seminole Community College.
  • File an application for graduation to receive a diploma.
  • Required minimum grade point average:
  • For a student entering the high school program prior to July 1, 1997, the law provides the following two options for meeting the required minimum GPA for high school graduation:
  • Option 1: The student must have a 1.5 on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent in those courses taken prior to July 1, 1997 and earn a 2.0 or above on a 4.0 scale for courses that apply to the 24 credits required for high school graduation as specified in Subsection (1) of Section 232.246, F.S., which are taken after July 1, 1997, or
  • Option 2: The student must have an overall cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above on a 4.0 scale. This requires the inclusion of all high school courses taken in the student's educational program, except those courses to which a forgiveness policy has been applied.

Note: A Certificate of Completion will be issued upon request to students completing all graduation requirements but failing to pass the FCAT.
