AHS Career Programs Institute

The Adult High School Career Programs Institute (CPI) provides unique career opportunities for students attending the Adult High School at Seminole Community College . CPI allows high school students to earn professional skills, career experience, and college credits toward an Associate level degree at Seminole Community College. CPI students can earn college credit while in high school, thereby saving time and money. All CPI initiatives are designed to create a seamless transition into Seminole Community College after graduating from the Adult High School.

The program is free to students. All counseling, work-based learning, training, and materials needed for dual enrollment courses are provided.

Dual Enrollment

CPI requires all dual enrollment students to adhere to the following requirements, which include the Florida State Statutes pertaining to Dual Enrollment:

  • Must be a high school student
  • Must have the required 3.0 GPA
  • All students who are interested must speak with the CPI representative to begin the process. Please visit our office in B114H as early as possible.

The A.S. degree program can be one or two years long, depending on your course of study. A.S. programs provide you with the knowledge necessary to work in a particular profession. These degrees prepare students for work after completing the degree at SCC, while others sequence into several university level degrees. Earning an A.S. degree at SCC is ideal if you plan to work in a specific field after college graduation or if you plan to continue your education in the future.

Career Advisement

CPI students benefit from regular career counseling sessions. The program also monitors student success while providing a support system that assists students even after they become Full-time college students. Meetings are held to introduce options and career exploration.

Career Training

The Career Programs Institute provides on-the-job training through work-based learning activities within the target fields of interest. CPI is an opportunity for students to begin their planning for success. Students enrolled eventually decide on a career path. On this path, students are enrolled in courses needed for high school and college. The main career transition paths are Nursing, Information Systems and Public Safety. We also offer advisement for students to pursue other degrees and/or certificates through the college while in high school.

CPI focuses on the following college degrees as well as certifications a student can complete as a CPI student.
