Yolanda Williams

Assistant to the President for Diversity and Equity

Yolanda Williams joined Seminole Community College as an instructional assistant with the Diversified Cooperative Training (DCT) Program in 1994, following six years of service in the U.S. Army. Williams earned her bachelor's degree in public relations and advertising from the University of West Florida in 1987. She completed her master's degree in human resources development in 1993 at Webster University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in conflict analysis and resolution at Nova Southeastern University.

With more than 16 years of experience in human resources, training, development, employment services and equal opportunity, Williams most recently served as SCC's Equity Coordinator and Director of the College Reach-Out Program (CROP). As Assistant to the President for Diversity and Equity, Williams provides proactive leadership, direction, coordination and training to the College staff on all equal opportunity, ADA, Title IX and diversity issues. Additionally, she develops programs and activities for conflict resolution. Williams is also responsible for investigating and mediating reported claims of discrimination. Supervising and developing approaches designed to enhance the College's appreciation for cultural diversity; its climate of tolerance; respect for the rights for all persons; and its adherence to equal access and equal opportunity are also under her purview. In collaboration with the Human Resource Office, Williams assists in the creation of programs designed to recruit, cultivate and retain faculty, staff, and students of color.

In addition to her responsibilities on campus, Williams is an active member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and regularly attends continuing education events, including the 2004 Kaleidoscope Leadership Institute, to remain up-to-date on industry advancements.
